February’s Experiment of the Month was No Eating After 8 PM.
Leslie, Laura, MH, and Kelly joined in. Please share your results and insights, folks!
Here’s my story: I ate after 8 PM 10 days out of 28. About three of those days were deliberate “to hell with it!” rebellion, while the others were practical; any night I worked late, I ate a late dinner. Sue me.
I lost no weight and saved no money. My meal-planning skills improved a little. While I’d hoped that skipping my fourth/fifth meal of the day would prevent crazy dreams, the dreams remained. Surprisingly, I never woke up hungry, even when I had a greater-than-12-hour fasting period.
Does this experiment deserve to become a habit? With one amendment, yes: knowing that the kitchen was closed gave my evenings more structure and closure. I also appreciated food much more and paid attention to what I ate and when, which felt great.
The amendment? Since I often worked evenings in February, 8 PM was too early to cut myself off. 8:30 or 9 would have been less stressful/more practical, so I’ll try out that timeframe in March.
Over to you! Did you avoid eating after 8 PM in February? If yes, how did it go?
