Angela – Since I’ve never had a loan or a credit card, I don’t think I HAVE a credit report. I couldn’t find one anyway, at that site I got tricked into using… I’m so sorry your identity was stolen! Geez! My little sister’s boyfriend had his identity stolen, and he didn’t find out until he started applying for apartments in a new city… what a mess. Lifelock sounds like a good service. I’ve had good experiences with Craigslist, too, I can’t hold this against them.

You have a great list of mistakes. But you’re wrong on one – people do read your blog! I am always happy to see new posts. I’m sorry you had a bad experience on Craigslist, though.

Well, this is a bit of a rotter, to be sure. Have you done all the responsible things you’re supposed to do in a situation like this? It’s a shame that there are such lousy, fleas-on-rats type folk out there that things like this happen, but you caught it, you’re now much wiser, and there’s a good, legal, actual job waiting out there for you. And now you can put “Experienced at spotting fraud schemes” on your resume!
