Forward March 2017 is over. You survived. Did you thrive? If that’s asking too much, did you inch forward a smidge, learn a little more about yourself, or gain some clarity?
I improved slightly in one of my weakest areas: fitness. With Richard Simmons videos and the Fightmaster Yoga for Beginners 30-Day Challenge as my allies, I can keep improving.
Fitness, while essential, isn’t my Big Honking Problem. My thoughts are the Big Honking Problem; I waste half my energy ruminating about the past and the other half dreading every minute of the future. No wonder I can’t get up in the morning.
Not to boast, but I have a real gift for making excuses and noticing problems. During Forward March, I made a conscious effort to focus more on what I want from life, finding solutions, and taking action.
The book Think Forward to Thrive: How to Use the Mind’s Power of Anticipation to Transcend Your Past and Transform Your Life by Jennice Vilhauer PhD has been a great help. The writing can be a tad bland, but the principles and exercises are outstanding.
If you struggle with depressing the hell out of yourself or living in the past, check your library for Think Forward to Thrive.
Over to you! How was your Forward March? What does “moving forward” mean in your life?
