Who’s Hungry for Turmeric?

Grocery lists are important.

People who don’t write grocery lists run the risk of thinking “what was that spice I needed? Was it turmeric? Yeah, that sounds right” every week.

Turmeric

They may also wind up with eight or nine pounds of brown rice, despite not much enjoying brown rice.

Know what I don’t have? Tarragon. I think I was aiming for tarragon all that time.

Please, people, write a gosh darn grocery list. And if your grocery list says “turmeric,” swing by my place and I’ll cut you a deal.

I do that with salsa. Every time I make tacos I buy a new jar. At least I’m learning to check the pantry before I open a new one.

You wouldn’t believe the amount of dill weed (and dill seed!) we have thanks to a former roommate’s mother. I guess I should start making pickles…

(I also have roughly that amount of turmeric, but at least I make curries semi-frequently. I do wonder sometimes if I should just toss all my spices, most of which are ancient by now, and buy a new stock for better-tasting food, but then I feel crummy about the waste. Life is hard sometimes.)

  • Sort of relieved to find out I’m not the only one with several pounds of brown rice due to poor listmaking. (If that was a confession, that is.) And the thing is, I can literally count on two hands the number of times in total I’ve actually MADE brown rice.

In any case, if you need some lentils, lemme know.

    Love this post!

Also, I’m making a mental note to find and share recipes that involve lots of turmeric and brown rice.
