As I typed it, Mr. Jaunty told me about this.
Concerning, indeed.
Some days, I’d give anything to secede from the human race.

Gah, I can’t take much more of this. I agree with you that sometimes secession seems like the only answer, but in the wake of the loss my community is going through, all I’ve seen in response is an amazing level of love I hadn’t know existed. What makes me mad is that we had to lose someone we loved to see that love, and that the love couldn’t save who we lost. So I think I’ll stick around with the humans, if only to try and keep more of that love out in the open and available for whoever needs it.

That is one of the saddest stories I’ve read about in a long time. Even if the poor guy hadn’t killed himself, he still would’ve been the victim of an unforgivable invasion of privacy. Destroying other people’s lives seems to have become our new national pastime.

That’s disturbing on many levels. It sickens me that someone would openly want to do that to another person. Bullying in this country has gotten out of control. However I have to agree with Katie on sticking around to make love more out in the open. Every time I hear something like this I make an effort to brighten at least one persons day even if it is just a compliment about what they are wearing. Spread the love.

Katie – I had the same experience last year, when a fellow music student died unexpectedly. At his funeral, everyone cried, hugged, and vowed to stay closer in the future, to share love more openly. I’m not yet as warm and loving as I’d like to be.
Jacob – Did things like this happen when we were younger? I don’t remember anything of the kind. When I was young, I thought of “bullies” as “people who called you names or shoved you in the hallway,” not “people who systematically attempt to destroy your life.”
Samantha – I can’t believe these people were 18 and smart enough to get into Rutgers… but there’s no GPA for decency and compassion. Grrrrrrrrrr. You’ve got the right idea about spreading love. “Shower the people you love with love….”
