Angela – After you use dye in a washing machine, it’s polite to run a cycle of hot water an a little bleach, just to be on the safe side. I haven’t had residual dye problems so far.

I’m too shy to say “Do my hips look okay? Should I swivel or something? Is my hair doing anything weird?”

Damn, she DOES go all out. I’m not NEARLY fabulous enough for that. =)

Heathered brown! I’d say you won that gamble. I’m a little afraid to do any bleaching or dyeing in the community washing machines at my apartment complex. Do you run the machine an extra time to make sure there isn’t any residual dye?

My boyfriend is happy to take a photo or two of my outfits but quickly loses interest, so I know what you mean. I do have a coworker who might be game, but I feel a little shy about striking a sassy pose. I might have to just get a tripod and frantically run back and forth with the self-timer. Dear me…I can only imagine what great sweaty photos that will produce. That or just go full throttle with the posing, a la Dreamecho (hello-dreamecho.blogspot.com). You look so relaxed in your photos! Good work. :)

If you have any black clothes that you don’t like, you could wash them with a little bleach and see what happens. It’s a BIG gamble, but I did that with a black skirt and it came out a perfect heathered brown.

Outfit photos ARE tough. My boyfriend’s taken a few, but his heart’s definitely not in it. =) Do you have any friends at work who’d be game? That’s what Lady Smaggle (smaggle.com) used to do.

I think I can get around the black clothes for a couple of weeks. Maybe more if I throw in some formal dresses, but that might be awkward at my office job. I have a heck of a time getting decent shots of my outfits, but I’ll try sending some photos in to Sal.

Angela – Are you kidding? I’m THRILLED to have a random reader, and a formerly religious former music student is so much the better. =)

Will you be able to work around the black in your wardrobe? Are you going to email pictures to Sal? I’d love to see what you come up with.

I use RIT liquid dye; dump it in your washing machine with a cup of salt and voila! I wear a lot of second-hand clothes, inexpensive things I’m not afraid to ruin. Cheap thrill.

Yay! I am trying the challenge, too, sort of. I don’t have a personal blog so I can’t put up photos, and I, too, started a day late, but it’s a good challenge, especially when half of my wardrobe is black. Do you dye a lot of your clothes? I’ve thought about it but it sounds like a pain…

I don’t know whether I’ve commented before, but I found your blog several months ago. I read a lot of fashion blogs and probably saw a link through the comments, I’m not sure. I got my music degree a few years ago, and I was considering teaching for a while (but still haven’t made up my mind entirely on that matter), and I was also brought up in a somewhat strict religious upbringing, so I was happy to find your blog and read along with your adventures and randomness. I hope you don’t mind a random reader. :)
